The group
Laureano Martínez
I am a CONICET postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Astrophysics of La Plata. I am currently investigating the different evolutionary channels that lead to the explosion of nuclear collapse supernovae, placing strong emphasis on stellar evolution in interacting binary systems. I obtained my PhD in astronomy at the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences of the National University of La Plata investigating the physical properties of type II supernova progenitor stars through modeling their light curves.
María Leonela Novarino
I have a degree in astronomy from the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences of La Plata. I am currently pursuing my doctorate at the same university, with a scholarship awarded by CONICET. In the group I research the evolution of low-mass binary systems, in particular, where one of the components is a neutron star.
Maite Echeveste
I am a Doctor in Astronomy and I work at the Institute of Astrophysics of La Plata. My research revolves around interacting binaries, with a particular emphasis on low-mass binaries with X-ray emission and blue straggler stars. Additionally, I have focused on studying the fine-tuning problem for the formation of ultracompact systems, whose emission of gravitational waves will be detected by LISA.
Leandro Bartolomeo Koninckx
I was born in Mendoza and received my Bachelor's degree in Astronomy from the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences. I am currently doing my PhD in this group, where I am researching the evolution in binary systems with intermediate masses. Additionally, I have worked with X-ray binaries where the compact object is a black hole. My place of work is at the Institute of Astrophysics of La Plata.
Héctor Rodrigo Pereiras
I was born in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and studied a degree in Astronomy at the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences of La Plata. I currently work at the Institute of Astrophysics of La Plata investigating the mass - radius relationship of white dwarfs from interacting binary systems with a compact object as a companion.
Sofía Fernández
I am from Avellaneda and I am studying a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy at the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences of La Plata - UNLP. I am doing a scientific vocation scholarship (CIN) in the group, investigating relativistic effects in binary systems with mass transfer.
